Hey there,
The World Cup is in full swing across the US, Canada, and Mexico. If you've watched any of the matches so far, you know that halftime isn't a rest, it's a reset. Managers pull out the whiteboard, identify what isn't working, and make the adjustments that decide the second half.
With the first half of the year coming to a close, your business just hit halftime too.
Most owners look at their P&L at mid-year and call it a review. That's the wrong scorecard. Your P&L tells you what you earned. It doesn't tell you whether that money actually showed up, whether your runway is tighter than it was in January, or whether you're set up to finish strong or scramble.
Here's the halftime cash review that actually matters:
Rerun your Forecast. Not just revenue. Cash in and cash out, week by week. Your balance today says nothing about the Friday in September when payroll and a tax payment land together.
Name your cash risks for the rest of the year. Big AP obligations coming in Q3 or Q4? Seasonal slowdowns in collections? A customer whose payment behavior has shifted? Don’t get caught offsides. Name them now, not in October.
Cut or renegotiate one thing. Every business has at least one vendor relationship or recurring expense that made sense in January and doesn't anymore. Halftime is the moment to act on it.
Try this week: Pull up your bank balance from January 1st and compare it to today. Did it grow, hold steady, or shrink? If your business is profitable and your balance is lower than it was six months ago, the gap might be sitting in someone else's account.
The number: FIFA is distributing a record $871 million in prize money across all 48 nations at the 2026 World Cup. The champion takes home $50 million. Every team that exits in the group stage still walks away with at least $12.5 million. (Yahoo Sports) Ninety minutes with this much cash on the line, every team knows exactly where they stand at halftime. Do you?
What's new at Arclite: We are actively building the Machine Learning (ML) brain behind the platform. To do it right, we brought in n2o, a world-class software engineering firm out of Virginia whose talent rivals any team in the industry. Their roster notably includes the former CTO of the Risk Division at Goldman Sachs. The best cash flow platform in the world deserves the best engine. Take a look at what we’re building.
Until next time,
Christian
